Not even a year old and The Great British Cupcakery has taken Newcastle Quayside by storm. Not only is it a family business but all of the wholesome cakes and treats are baked on the premises. The GBC is nothing short of otherworldly.
The interior is wonderfully kitsch, with hanging chandeliers and matching china tea sets, you’ll be transported to a relaxing paradise wherein choosing between the Creme Egg and Peppermint brownies are your only worry.
This tearoom is quintessentially British and offers a wide range of services – it’s not just for your elevenses/twelveses/oneses… you get the picture. GBC also boasts a bespoke celebration cake service, with a huge range of flavour, colour and icing combinations.
Tyne and Dine recommends:
Afternoon Tea at GBC is an absolute must for any ladies who lunch – fellas, I’m sure she’ll let you tag along. Booking is essential, especially on Fridays and weekends as the GBC has acquired quite the following over the last few months, and you won’t want to leave empty-bellied.
The Afternoon Tea menu can be seen on the website, and at just £19.95, it shines brightly above its corporate neighbours on the Quayside.
